Modern effective field theory methods can be used for high-precision calculations of non-relativistic bound states, such as Hydrogen and Positronium. The energy levels of Hydrogen can be computed to one part in 1012. The same techniques can also be applied to QCD, where the QCD Lamb shift was computed for the first time. There are some promising ideas on applying the method to the problem of nuclear forces.
