I will discuss the progress towards a measurement of parity nonconservation in atomic ytterbium, the laboratory search for a temporal variation of the fine-structure "constant" using radio-frequency E1 transitions in atomic dysprosium, and will briefly mention exploring a possibility of a nuclear electric-dipole-moment search using a condensed-matter system.
