The unexpected, but now undeniable, acceleration of the cosmological expansion rate challenges our understanding of the nature of the cosmos. A variety of ambitious surveys have been planned to shed light on this mysterious phenomenon. I will discuss what we can expect to learn from these surveys and the challenges that must be met for them to be successful.
