The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) completed its first data taking run with proton-proton collisions at the record-breaking center of mass energy of 7 TeV in late 2010. The machine, located at the CERN laboratory (Geneva, Switzerland), is designed to study the frontier of our knowledge about the particles and their interactions. There are 5 experiments going on at the LHC, of which the ATLAS experiment is the largest. This talk will discuss most recent tests of the Standard Model using proton-proton collision events collected with the ATLAS experiment. The discussion will focus on experimental measurements of hard and soft sectors of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), a theory describing interactions of quarks and gluons and the application of this theory for new particle searches.
