Developing a detailed understanding of stellar evolution requires input from several fields of physics, including astronomy and nuclear physics. Over the past two decades, new instrumentation has led to an improved understanding of this complex process, but many questions remain. Following an introduction which will highlight the role of nuclear burning in stellar processes, I will focus on some of the recent work that we have carried out at Texas A&M University on several important reactions for nuclear astrophysics and then briefly comment about our future prospects.
