It has been predicted that fast partons traveling through nuclear matter lose energy through interactions with the medium. This effect has been confirmed both in hot and cold nuclear matter. At RHIC the effect is so large that most QCD jets are wiped out. I will review some theoretical considerations and discuss recent experimental results.
