In this talk I discuss the role of low-energy nuclear probes in the quest for new physics beyond the Standard Model. After an introduction on the landscape of low-energy searches in the LHC era, I will focus on two topics: (i) precision beta-decay measurements and (ii) searches for permanent electric dipole moments. In both cases I will highlight the great physics reach of these experiments and I will illustrate the role played by hadronic and nuclear uncertainties in the interpretation of their results.
