Dear ATLAS User,
This is the second announcement of the ATLAS User Group Meeting that will take place on August 8-9, 2009.
As stated in our original message (https://www.phy.anl.gov/atlas/workshop09/FirstAnnouncement.html),
the workshop will be an opportunity to: (1) update everyone on the new
capabilities of ATLAS and (2) refine the vision of the future of ATLAS. It is
essential that this workshop be attended by as many users as possible as it
will define the very future of the facility. In other words, if ATLAS is to
continue to play a forefront role in low-energy nuclear physics, it needs the
active participation and the full support of all its users.
Below, you will find important practical information regarding the meeting.
We also recommend that you check the workshop's web page (address above) periodically as it will be updated frequently with additional relevant information such as anticipated beam intensities and energies, updates on equipment initiatives, etc.
You will soon be contacted by the conveners of the working groups about possible contributions.
We are looking forward to your active participation in the workshop. If you have questions about the workshop or about the specific capabilities of the Laboratory, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
Walt Loveland
Oregon State University
Chair of the Executive Committee of the ATLAS user group
Robert V. F. Janssens

PS: The workshop will end
in the early afternoon of Sunday, August 9. This will facilitate travel
arrangements for the users planning to attend the workshop to be held at the
NSCL on the following August 10 and 11 -- see http://meetings.nscl.msu.edu/userworkshop2009/.
