News

08/30/08 - Last news on this workshop: It seems like everybody made it home safely. We take this opportunity to thank all our speakers and participants for their interesting and instructive contributions to this workshop. Thank you!

08/26/08 - Our workshop dinner will be held tomorrow, Wednesday 08/27 at the Saffron Restaurant on 6020 Cass Ave Westmont, IL 60559 at 7pm. Please gather at about 6:30pm at the entrance to the Physics Division's building to ensure everyone will be able to get to the restaurant. I'll collect the fee in advance.

08/25/08 - The workshop has begun. First presentations are online (within the program schedule).

08/21/08 - Added a quite presentable list of restaurants in the Argonne area provided by Bob Wiringa. Thank you, Bob!

08/18/08 - One week to go! There has been a (hopefully) last update of the workshop's program since we welcome a few new speakers while a few others had to reject for different reasons. Please notice in particular the changes regarding Thursday 08/24, and Friday 08/25. The excitement here increases.

07/22/08 - The list of speakers has been replaced by our workshop's program. More abstracts are available.

06/26/08 - The list of speakers has been updated. First abstracts are available (click the green dot...).

03/31/08 - This site went online. Essentialy everything here can be considered as news. If the Circular does not answer your questions don't hesitate to contact us.

1st Circular

Dear Workshop Participants:

Thank you for joining our workshop on "The Equation of State at Nonzero Density and Temperature, and its Application in Astrophysics". We got a lot of acceptance so far. A list of confirmed participants and all information provided by this and future circulars will be found at the homepage of the Physics Division's Theory Group at Argonne:

https://www.phy.anl.gov/theory/z08EoS/workshop2008.html

As stated within our invitation letter the workshop will be held in the Physics Division at Argonne during the week 25-29 August 2008.

If unexpected circumstances prevent you from participating, please inform us immediately.

Deborah Morrison ([email protected]) kindly organises the details of your visit (accomodation, rental car, transportation between ANL and Chicago-area airports, as well as everything that needs to be done to ensure you will be allowed to access the Argonne site). Details are given below.

Accommodations:

We've reserved a block of rooms at the on-site Argonne Guesthouse (http://www.anlgh.org/anlghhome.html). It is important that you confirm your arrival and departure dates as soon as you know them by completing the attached Lodging Form. Unfortunately, the Laboratory will not allow us to pay for your room directly. You will need to pay for your room upon checkout and provide us with your receipt so we may reimburse you. The Guest House accepts all major credit cards.

Transportation:

Since the Laboratory is slightly off the track, we will reimburse the costs for up to six rental cars.  We will circulate the drivers' names via e-mail and count on their willingness to transport people to dinner locations during the week.  If you would like a rental car, please let us know.  If you won't be renting a car, please provide Debbie with your flight information and she will arrange limousines to/from the airport.

Access to Argonne:

In order for us to arrange your access to the Argonne site, all non-U.S. citizens are required to provide the information listed on the Non-U.S. Citizen Visiting Argonne Form (see attached).  Please fill out the form and return it to Debbie Morrison via fax @ (630) 252-3903.  To keep your personal information secure, please do not email this form to her.

I am looking forward to August and hope for a lot of interesting talks and stimulating discussions.

Sincerely yours,

Thomas Klähn
